Using a bamboo toothbrush requires a little more care than a plastic one. But you will feel rewarded for caring for and loving the planet.
Bamboo is an organic material, while plastic is impenetrable. Therefore, we must maintain your level of expectations regarding the appearance of your toothbrush over time.
The color of the wood is light when the Bam & Boo is brand new. However, the handle darkens after daily use because bamboo is naturally porous. You must not feel sad or disappointed. This is absolutely normal. Plus, we have good news: if you follow three easy tips, you'll be taking good care of your bamboo toothbrush:
TIP 1 - RINSE WITH WATER
Enjoy brushing your teeth gently. There's no need to rush and your gums will thank you. Then, run the bristles under warm tap water, removing toothpaste foam or leftover food.
TIP 2 - DRY
Dry the bristles with a towel. Please do not skip this important step. Your toothbrush will appreciate that extra care. Be aware that using a toothbrush cap is not best practice. You should always let the brush head dry between uses. From time to time, you can clean your toothbrush well and you can do it with natural products. Never disinfect your toothbrush in the microwave or dishwasher.
TIP 3 - STORAGE
Place the toothbrush on top of the brush cup or even on a pebble to dry completely between uses. This is also a trendy way to store it! It is recommended to use a ventilated cup to avoid a pool of water at the bottom, thus avoiding the damp and dark handle.
The idea of these tips is not to extend the life of your bamboo toothbrush. Regardless of the material, dentists and hygienists recommend replacing your toothbrush every 2/3 months. Last but not least, children's toothbrushes generally need to be replaced more often than adult toothbrushes.
